We've been at AAMC since Saturday night. Reagan is mostly under observation for the cyanotic episodes. The docs did manage to come in and see one... here is a picture from the tail end of the episode. They only last about ten seconds, which is a good thing, so it's really hard to get a picture of her at her bluest.
You can see the blueness in what I call the "moustache area" of her face. The lips themselves don't get blue. The doctor here seems to think that these are "transient" episodes. They have observed her oxygen saturation as an episode is taking place and she does not desaturate lower than 99. Therefore, the surface tissue is briefly deprived of oxygen, but the episodes do not last long enough that the brain does not record the loss of oxygen itself.
Things were looking up for us... but just a few hours ago, Reagan started projectile vomiting. She was laying in bed, and she vomited over the crib rails all the way to the threshold between the room and the bathroom... about five feet. The doctors here aren't comfortable releasing her home, and feel that further testing is necessary. They want to do a swallow study but at AAMC, they are not able to handle neonate swallow studies... just those for older children and adults. Therefore, they are transferring us to Hopkins. An ambulance will take Reagan and I up there, and then Mike will follow and we'll all get settled in.
My mom is coming down from Pennsylvania to be with us... she's going to meet us at Hopkins. Not sure who will get there first. I'm really hoping this swallow study will provide answers. Ironically, we had one scheduled for Thursday anyway, but they're going to see if they can get us in tomorrow. Since today is Labor Day, it's out as a possibility.
